The CASA DC Professionals Council is a dynamic group of professionals and dedicated CASA volunteers, who have come together to provide support for CASA DC and its mission to advocate for our most vulnerable youth, and build a strong community for CASA DC volunteers. Founded in 2018, the aim of the Professionals Council is to work alongside CASA DC, as an additional fundraising and outreach arm, in an effort towards ensuring every abused and neglected child in the DC foster care system can be safe, establish permanence, and have the opportunity to thrive.

In the 2020-2021 term, the Professionals Council raised $30,000 for CASA for Children of DC. In spite of the challenges posed by COVID-19, the Professionals Council was able to nimbly adjust our work to raise critical funding to support CASA DC and vulnerable foster youth. This is triple our original goal, and thanks to the incredible DMV community. We also hosted a virtual reading challenge, and children and youth earned prizes like air pods and scooters as a reward for increased efforts in literacy!

​Join the Professionals Council for 2022-2023 Term!

Council Members Expectations:

• Serve a one-year term (July 2022 to June 2023)

• Serve as an ambassador for CASA for Children of DC to their networks and the broader DMV community.

• Give or raise $250 for the year. This includes a kick-off donation of $100 upon joining the Council. A payment plan and/or support in fundraising are available.

• Commit to 2-4 hours a month to actively participate in the work of the Council, this includes contributing to the planning and execution of events, promotion of events, and attending events in-person once available and online for now.

Professionals Council President and Vice President Expectations: 

• Serve a term of two (2) years.

• Lead in the formulation and execution of an annual work plan for the Council 

• Participate in regular calls with the CASA staff liaison, Council President and Vice President.

• This is, on average, a 6-8 hour time commitment each month.

Benefits of Professionals Council Membership:

• Connect and network with other like-minded young professionals who care about foster youth in the DC community.

• Learn about the issues facing CASA DC children and youth and contribute to efforts to mitigate those issues.

• Cultivate new skills, including contributing to fundraising efforts as a part of the Professionals Council Giving Goal, which aims to raise 50% of the funds needed to support volunteer trainings each year. 

• Support the CASA DC mission in meaningful ways.

Professionals Council Giving Goal:

​

In 2020 the Professionals Council set a goal to fully fund CASA DC's annual expenses for training CASA volunteers through consistent fundraising efforts and event sponsorship.  The Professionals Council Giving Goal was established to highlight the Professional Council's philanthropic efforts to support CASA for Children of DC.

Donors to the Council’s Giving Goal can contribute in small and large ways. Those who demonstrate significant support for CASA DC through monetary donations, sponsorship of events, and/or donations of time, support, or even event space are recognized by their giving levels through logo placement on CASA DC's website, "shout-outs" in social and marketing communication to the CASA DC donor and volunteer community, listing on CASA DC's Annual Report, and invitations to special events. 

Donors wishing to support CASA DC above the Champion Level will work directly with the Engagement & Fundraising Senior Manager for CASA DC.
