CASA for Children of DC Named “2022 TOP-RATED NONPROFIT” by GreatNonprofits

Award based on Community Recommendations

Washington, DC 11/28/22 – CASA for Children of DC announced today it has been named a “2022 Top-Rated Nonprofit” by GreatNonprofits, the leading website for community recommendations of charities and nonprofits.

CASA for Children of DC recruits, trains, and supports volunteer court-appointed special advocates (CASA volunteers) to provide mentorship and best interest advocacy to foster care and juvenile justice youth in Washington, DC resulting in court-involved youth having a stable, positive adult figure who can serve as a protective factor against the impact of the trauma.

“As we celebrate CASA DC’s 20th year, we are honored to be named a 2022 Top-Rated Nonprofit,” says Arika Adams, Executive Director, CASA for Children of DC. “For two decades, CASA DC has been a leading voice in advocacy for DC’s court-involved youth and our volunteers continue to dedicate robust support to some of DC’s most vulnerable children. The impact of CASA support on the lives of our youth is clear, mitigating the impact of childhood trauma to improve well-being and promote brighter outcomes. We are proud to again be recognized for this pivotal work, especially as we grow to provide increased wraparound services, including our new therapeutic division.”

The Top-Rated Nonprofit Award is based on the rating and number of reviews that CASA for Children of DC received from volunteers, donors and aid recipients. “After almost a year working with CASA I can say this is a wonderful outreach program that makes for a better and happier community. CASA provides so many fabulous resources not only to at risk children but the volunteers as well. This has been a wonderful experience - at every turn I am met with a supportive and helpful community. I know my youth has been so happy and thankful to get the opportunity to work with CASA.” -Lauren S., CASA Volunteer

“[CASA for Children of DC] is a great example of a nonprofit making a real difference in their community,” said Perla Ni, CEO of GreatNonprofits, “Their award is well-deserved recognition not only of their work, but the tremendous support they receive, as shown by the many outstanding reviews they have received from people who have direct experience working with CASA for Children of DC.”

GreatNonprofits is the largest donation website for nonprofits and where people share stories about their personal experiences on more than 1.6 million charities and nonprofits. The GreatNonprofits Top-Rated Awards are the only awards for nonprofits determined by those who have direct experience with the charities – as donors, volunteers and recipients of aid.
