Summer Hecht, LCSW-C
Clinical Senior Manager
Summer Hecht, LCSW-C, joined CASA for Children of DC in 2020. Summer earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and Childhood Studies from Case Western Reserve University in 2011 and her Master of Science in Social Administration from the Jack, Joseph, and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences at Case Western Reserve University in 2012. A clinical social worker by license, Summer has varied experiences in mental health including working with children and adults in the Justice system, providing clinical services to children, youth, adults, and families in community mental health, inpatient, intensive outpatient, and private practice settings, and providing intensive wrap-around and reunification services to families in crisis.
Summer brings with her to CASA DC extensive expertise in trauma and its significant and life-long impact on youth. She believes that within every individual is the ability to grow, to heal, and to be resilient, and that connecting youth with committed and present adults is the most significant way to encourage those abilities in children. She is therefore deeply passionate about CASA DC’s mission to provide DC foster youth with mentor/advocates.
In her free time, Summer enjoys reading, writing, watching far more television and movies than is probably healthy, and baking, but finds the most joy in spending time with her husband and four young children in their suburban neighborhood near Baltimore, Maryland.
