Shalamar immigrated to the United States from Jamaica. She is a graduate of the City University of NY, Brooklyn College with a degree in the Humanities. Shalamar lived and worked in New York City where she had a career in Real Estate and previously volunteered as Assistant to the Executive Director for Young Ladies of Tomorrow, an at-risk youth development organization for female adolescent youth. Shalamar completed her CASA DC training in 2015.
Since April of 2019, Shalamar has been matched with a sweet but sassy seven year-old. Volunteering with CASA has been a joyous, educational and wonderfully rewarding experience because of the positive impact it enables her to make. Shalamar is looking forward to serving in this role and helping CASA to build a brighter future for DC foster youth. She intends to be a strong advocate, and to learn, contribute and lead.
