Professionals Council President
Rachel has a decade of experience working with and for youth in both the U.S. Government and nonprofit sectors. She earned her master’s degree from George Washington University, and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado. Rachel has represented organizational and civil society priorities regularly before Congress, the State Department and the National Security Council, and also lived and/or worked on youth issues in Vietnam, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Russia, and the Philippines. She has led capacity building workshops in Malaysia, Uganda, Ethiopia, and Tanzania. Her published writings on youth issues have appeared in The Hill, Devex and Ms. Magazine.
In her previous volunteer capacity, she was matched as a youth mentor for over seven years in her hometown of Denver, Colorado, and volunteered as a tutor to a recently resettled refugee youth in Maryland upon relocating to DC. Rachel is proud to be a CASA and looks forward to continuing to serve youth and support the CASA DC mission through her engagement on the Professionals Council for the 2020-2021 term.
