Empowering Youth & their Finances (July In-Service recap)

Revisit CASA for Children of DC’s Prosperity Now In-Service training, hosted by Melissa Grober-Morrow. Prosperity Now is a nonprofit organization focused on empowering community members to build financial stability by having savings to obtain assets that build wealth.

The In-Service discussed how to empower youth and their finances. Some interesting takeaways are:

  • Studies have found that many youths transitioning out of foster care face housing and employment barriers due to poor or no credit

  • Most people who are credit invisible (no credit) are between the ages of 18-24

  • Youth are 35 times more likely to become a victim of identity theft
