Empowering Youth & their Finances (July In-Service recap)
Revisit CASA for Children of DC’s Prosperity Now In-Service training, hosted by Melissa Grober-Morrow. Prosperity Now is a nonprofit organization focused on empowering community members to build financial stability by having savings to obtain assets that build wealth.
The In-Service discussed how to empower youth and their finances. Some interesting takeaways are:
Studies have found that many youths transitioning out of foster care face housing and employment barriers due to poor or no credit
Most people who are credit invisible (no credit) are between the ages of 18-24
Youth are 35 times more likely to become a victim of identity theft
