Mary Nelson, JD, LLM
BRIDGES Program Manager
Mary Nelson, JD, LLM, comes to CASA with a track record of work with vulnerable populations. Mary attended Whitworth University where she received her Bachelors of Science before getting her JD from Gonzaga University and her LLM in International Business and Economics. As a CASA in Spokane County, WA, Mary was able to see the importance of the role of a CASA. Mary also worked as a Child & Family Advocate for The Crisis Residential Center in Spokane, group home for youth at risk. Upon moving to DC, Mary conducted research on the rights of migrant children in Mexico and the role of the BIC in migrant child rights at the Georgetown Human Rights Institute Fact Finding Practicum.
Mary is the Program Manager for the BRIDGES Program where she advocates for youth in the justice system. Mary believes it is our responsibility as a community to wrap our arms around these young people and show them that we love them and they do belong, regardless of their mistakes.
Outside of the office Mary practices karate and barre, enjoys cooking (especially for friends and family), pub trivia, reading and hanging out with her husband and cats.
